It's a fascinating initiative, but isn't there a risk that del.icio.us takes the regrettable route of some other collaborative projects by going commercial some day?

In the del.icio.us "about" page, I couldn't find any information on openness and ownership. However, the wikipedia page on it (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Del.icio.us) says that "Use of the service is currently free. The source code is not available, while entered data is downloadable through the API."

There might be a perfectly acceptable reason for the closedness, but I have some scepticism towards great collaborative endeavours, which at the whim of their creators can be turned into commercial services.
