U.S. citizens want more e-government
A new survey conducted by Andersen Consulting shows that a majority of Americans believe increasing the number of online government services should be made a priority. The survey also showed that a majority of those responding would be comfortable casting their votes online.

FirstGov ‘not worthy of being called a portal’
In a letter sent Monday to Sally Katzen, acting deputy director for management at the Office of Management and Budget and member of the FirstGov board of directors, OMB Watch executive director Gary Bass said the group is “greatly disappointed” about the first mock-up of the portal (www.firstgov.gov). It’s especially disappointing because the group had high hopes after Clinton issued a memorandum on e-government last December, he said. (FCW)

The Central IT Unit of the Cabinet Office in UK has prepared an International Benchmarking Report in support of the development of Information Age Government. It sets out the findings of an International benchmarking study which has focused on the development of e-government services, targets and the lessons learned from the implementation of services.
